BASIC ACCOUNTABILITY

The Optimization Operator works closely with DSC Production Analyst to assists the Production Foreman and Asst. Production Foreman with production operations of the Company's operated properties. Responsible for inspections of production sites and facilities, data gathering and quality, artificial lift optimization, and limited remote monitoring of production. Works under minimal supervision.

 

EDUCATION

High School diploma or equivalent

 

EXPERIENCE

Requires a minimum of 5 years of related industry experience in lease operations with optimization responsibilities

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Demonstrate and promote safe and ethical behavior at all times
  • Understand and apply all Company policies and ensures others comply with these policies
  • Possess the right and obligation to stop work if unsafe conditions exist or are suspected
  • Perform operational checks of assigned wells, equipment and production facilities
  • Expert in field on subjects such as artificial  plunger lift operation, surface facility equipment operations and repair, oil & gas well chemical uses, and efficient time management
  • Address underperforming wells in collaboration with peers, DSC/production analyst, Foreman and engineer
  • Monitor Progress: Minor subsurface well maintenance limited to non-BOPE jobs (i.e. swab, slickline, plunger maintenance, hot oil/water, regulatory, routine testing, batch/chemical/scale jobs, long stroke/respace, fluid levels, dynamometer).
  • Collaborate with peers, DSC/PA, Foreman & Engineer concerning wells and lease activities
  • Participate and contribute to well reviews and route reviews
  • Troubleshoot and optimize producing wells & underperforming wells.
  • Review production variance reports, make recommendations where applicable.
  • Assist with the identification of opportunities for operations cost reductions, job efficiency and safety improvements
  • Maintain regulatory, environmental, and safety compliance in conjunction with and through close coordination with the Operations Engineers, Superintendents, Foremen, and Environmental Health and Safety Department
  • Able to understand and articulate the supporting reasons and value of processes and priorities
  • Develop and maintain positive team member relations centered on mutual trust, dignity, respect, fairness, consistency, two-way communication, teamwork, and alignment wellness.
  • Assist training newly hired and/or less experienced lease operators
  • Review, process, and approve workorder tickets, invoices as required

 

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Oil and Gas Industry Experience Required

  • Able to work within a team environment
  • Creative individual, capable of analyzing and solving mechanical problems
  • Demonstrate basic mechanical knowledge and process flow of all production facilities
  • Perform operational checks of assigned facilities and wells
  • Capable of safely climbing stairs, ladders, fixed to various equipment during production and drilling operations
  • Must be able to safely and effectively wear Self Contained Breathing equipment and work in an H2S environment
  • Position requires operation of Company vehicles. Incumbent must maintain a clean driving record and adhere to Company policies
  • Travel and work extended hours on short notice
  • Must be able to work schedule that supports business needs including rotations and nights
  • Live in or be willing to relocate to the local operating area as required by Devon Energy
