Position Summary
Devon Energy seeks a dynamic and innovative Full Stack Software Developer to join our Capital Operations Technology team. This role involves working with product owners, business analysts and a developer team to develop scalable, Microsoft Azure-based enterprise-class solutions for Devon’s Drilling and Completions department. The ideal candidate will have a strong desire to learn about Devon’s business, the ability to apply software and technology to solve problems, exploit opportunities and possess the ability to effectively communicate with individuals who do not have a technical background. 

 

Essential Functions
• Solution Development: Identify and develop scalable, enterprise-class C#, .NET, AngularJS, Python solutions.
• Data Analysis: Experience writing SQL queries for data analysis and, preferably, experience working with time series data. Experience with Aveva PI is a plus.
• Cloud Development: Experience designing, building and deploying Microsoft Azure based applications. Experience working in a hybrid cloud scenario is a plus.
• Collaboration: Work with business owners to ensure solutions and operational activities meet business requirements and are delivered timely.
• Communication: Regularly communicate project status to development teams, project managers, supervisors, and stakeholders.
• Documentation: Prepare project documentation and report schedule changes as needed.
• Risk Management: Identify open issues and risks, and determine action/mitigation plans.
• Performance Improvement: Improve system and application performance metrics as required.
• Daily Management: Manage daily activities involving existing applications and their owners.
• Technical Consultation: Provide technical design guidance for future projects and solutions.
 Transition Coordination: Coordinate development work for transition to operations.
• Ad Hoc Requests: Handle ad hoc technical requests as required.

 

Prerequisites
• Experience: Three to five years of development experience.
• Database Skills: Experience with relational databases including Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, and SQL language.
• Unit Testing: Experience writing unit tests for appropriate application coverage.
• Analytical Skills: Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Technical Understanding: Experience in analyzing and understanding business/technology system architectures, databases, and client applications.
 Learning Ability: Ability to learn quickly, understand complex problems, and apply useful solutions.
 Communication: Able to communicate effectively at all levels
• Oil & Gas Knowledge: Interest in and capacity to learn about the oil and gas business and the engineering that supports it is a critical requirement.
