BASIC ACCOUNTABILITY   

Under the general direction of the Supervisor. Supports Devon Energy by assisting in the research of accounting treatment of strategic transactions and accounting policies of the company as well as financial reporting and technical research relating to SEC filings. Works effectively with peers and other management across disciplines in order to coordinate activities. Must be able to manage desk to meet deadlines.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 
1.    Review and research financial reporting matters related to SEC reporting.

2.    Interpret and implement new accounting standards under the direction of the Supervisor.
3.    Assist in producing technical accounting research position papers for management. 
4.    Interact and coordinate with external auditors to address technical issues under the direction of Supervisor.

5.    Interacts with others to improve departmental communications and overall accounting efficiencies.
6.    Understands and adheres to systems of internal control.
7.    Develop, challenge and implement new corporate accounting policies/procedures under the direction of the Supervisor.

8.    Other duties as assigned.

 

EXPERIENCE 
•    Approximately 2 or more years of experience in financial reporting and/or oil and gas accounting with a strong preference for experience in technical research and public accounting experience.

 

EDUCATION                                                                                   
•    Bachelor’s degree in Accounting    

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
•    Requires the ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written skills).

•    Ability to work with data effectively.
•    CPA preferred
