BASIC ACCOUNTABILITY
Opportunity to become part of dynamic team working under immediate or general supervision to facilitate our tax compliance requirements related to the evaluation, forecasting, and negotiation of our assets. This includes preparation of our local and state indirect tax returns, estimation and payment of taxes, and other special project related to large corporate oil and gas indirect taxation. The successful candidate will report to the Tax Manager who leads the team.

 

EDUCATION
Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Management, Management Information Systems, or Marketing or commensurate experience required.  A minimum of 12-hours in accounting or finance are required.

 

EXPERIENCE
Experience with financial analysis and/or interaction with business decision makers is preferred.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
• Analyze financial and tax information in order to properly value and negotiate all asset types
• Gather and interpret tax-relevant data from Devon’s financial and operational reporting systems
• Assist with the preparation of tax returns, including preparation of supporting detail work papers and schedules
• Prepare and file returns in accordance with all applicable tax laws 
• Perform tax research, develop conclusions, and defend positions on issues raised during special projects as assigned
 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
• High working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of products
• Self motivated with ability to take a project from beginning to end with some direction, independently able to manage projects
• Seeks and accepts accountability and empowerment to efficiently execute on assignments
• Effectively presents ideas and information clearly and concisely in a variety of settings
• Exhibits effective interpersonal skills to collaborate work within a team to achieve objectives
• Strong organization and analytical skills
• Identifies routine problems of limited scope and identifies solutions based on training and experience
