Jackfish District 

Our Jackfish District has an excellent opportunity for a SAGD Production Operator. Reporting to the Production Foreman, this role is a camp based position working a shift of 8 days on / 6 days off. Devon has an industry leading camp facility serving all three Jackfish plants, and currently provides bus and/or air transportation from designated departure points in select locations, depending on place of residence and shift rotation.

Our Jackfish Project is located approximately 15km (10 miles) southeast of Conklin, Alberta. Exponential growth in our Jackfish 1, 2 and 3 operations has led to over 120,000 BOED of best-in-class production. Devon pioneered the use of saline water in the SAGD process, completely eliminating the use of fresh water in our operations.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Have a thorough understanding of processes involved with Thermal Heavy Oil recovery.
  • Provide expertise and knowledge to the operation, where required.
  • Perform equipment isolations as required.
  • Maintain and adhere to all Devon EH&S policies and procedures.
  • Perform testing and analysis of process fluids.
  • When required, fulfill the duties of Shift Engineer to maintain crew compliance with ABSA certification requirements.

  • 2nd Class Power Engineering Certificate
  • Minimum 10 years of operating experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Thermal/SAGD production processes is considered an asset
  • Availability and willingness to work extended hours, as/when needed
  • Excellent planning, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated computer competency with Microsoft Office software
  • Previous experience working and living in a remote camp environment is an asset
