Our Jackfish District has an excellent opportunity for a Journeyman Electrical & Instrumentation Technician.  Reporting to the Maintenance Foreman, the successful candidate will play a key role within maintenance and will be accountable for troubleshooting repairing and reporting problems related to process and equipment.  This position is geared towards individuals who are hardworking, eager to be part of an exciting project and desire a rewarding career.This role is a camp-based position working a shift of 8 days on / 6 days off. Devon has an industry leading camp facility serving all three Jackfish plants, and currently provides bus and/or air transportation from designated departure points in select locations, depending on place of residence and shift rotation.

Our Jackfish Project is located approximately 15km (10 miles) southeast of Conklin, Alberta. Exponential growth in our Jackfish 1, 2 and 3 operations has led to over 120,000 BOED of best-in-class production. Devon pioneered the use of saline water in the SAGD process, completely eliminating the use of fresh water in our operations.

Performance Objectives:

  • Complete work orders on a district wide approach assigned to you by the Maintenance Foreman.
  • Generate electronic work orders as required.
  • Work with contract personnel and other Devon stakeholders as required.
  • Participate in the review process for establishing PM work orders for electrical instrumentation equipment.
  • Participate in the review process for establishing spare parts list for electrical instrumentation equipment and inventory levels.
  • Assist in identifying causes of failures and make appropriate recommendations.
  • Identify improvements and cost reduction ideas.
  • Make recommendations regarding equipment replacement or upgrades.
  • Troubleshoot process and equipment problems.
  • Provide input for scheduled turnaround/shutdowns.
  • Respond to after-hours maintenance calls.
  • Maintain a professional attitude.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Alberta or Interprovincial Electrical and Instrument Trade Certificates.  • 5+ years of previous maintenance experience in a related field and exposure to PLC’s would be an asset.
  • Experience troubleshooting and repair of MI (Mineral Insulated) and SR (Self-Regulated) heat trace.
  • Experience in MS Office Suite and SAP
  • Organizational skills and ability to multitask is key
  • Time management is an asset
  • Strong general knowledge of all aspects of facility maintenance
  • Should have working knowledge of engineering codes and specifications
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
