Job Profile Summary:

 

The Geosciences Technologist is responsible for providing technical support to Geologists and Geophysicists, assisting in the efficient management of well data, facilitating the production of comprehensive geological and geophysical maps, contributing to programming solutions, ensuring data quality control, supporting field surveys, staying informed about technological advancements, and fostering collaboration within the department. The role involves assisting in locating, collecting, processing, and uploading well data into applications, ensuring databases' seamless accessibility for efficient information handling. The role includes producing comprehensive geological and geophysical maps, cross-sections, and reports, utilizing visual representation techniques, organizing and manipulating geological and geophysical databases systematically to support analytical processes. The role contributes to implementing quality control checks, participating in field surveys, staying updated on technological advancements, and actively engaging in cross-functional collaboration, providing valuable insights for comprehensive and innovative solutions within the department.

 

Job Description:

  • Assists in locating, collecting, processing, and uploading well data into applications, maintaining databases for seamless accessibility to ensure the efficient handling of information and promote a well-organized data management system for enhanced workflow and collaboration within the team.
  • Helps produce comprehensive geological and geophysical base maps, cross-sections, and various displays and reports, employs visual representation techniques to effectively convey essential information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Aids in organizing and manipulating geological and geophysical databases, ensuring systematic organization and optimal utilization of data resources to support analytical processes and decision-making in exploration and extraction activities.
  • Helps perform operations on databases and applications to search and generate reports and constructs customized databases and spreadsheets to facilitate geological analyses and enhance data-driven decision-making processes.
  • Learns to create programming solutions to address data-related challenges and designs effective and efficient solutions that enhance data management, processing, and analysis for improved functionality and decision-making within the Geosciences department.
  • Aids in implementing rigorous quality control checks to guarantee data accuracy, consistency, and compliance with industry standards, fostering a robust foundation for informed geoscience analysis and decision-making.
  • Supports the coordination and implementation of field surveys, gathering geological samples and data to facilitate comprehensive analysis and enhance the understanding of geological elements.
  • Keeps updated on the latest technological advancements in geoscience software and tools, providing valuable insights to recommend upgrades and improvements that enhance efficiency and effectiveness in data analysis and interpretation.
  • Participates in cross-functional meetings and workshops, fostering collaboration with external partners, vendors, and service providers for comprehensive and innovative solutions.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Math, Physics, Geography, Geology, or any other related discipline and/or commensurate work experience is required.

 

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience

  • Geophysical and Geological Software (IHS Kingdom mandatory, ArcGIS desired)
  • Reservoir Engineering and Geological Modeling Software
