The Safety Operator provides cost effective routine technical Health and Safety service to project areas. Under minimal supervision, ensures compliance with applicable standards, laws, and regulations by implementing, auditing and supporting Devon operations to continually improve Devon’s safety culture while providing ongoing EHS technical support and guidance to the operations team. The position requires a broad knowledge and understanding of EHS issues as it relates to oil and gas production and maintenance operations.
Requires a minimum of 5 years of related industry experience
• Promote and demonstrate the Devon and EHS Employee/Leadership attributes
• Partner with Operations to provide sound EHS guidance and recommendations as they strive to operate properties at a maximum economic rate while complying with EHS regulatory requirements and Company EHS standards
• Stopping any work when an IDLH safety hazard is identified until all affected parties are made aware of the possible hazard and all reasonable measures have been taken to mitigate the hazard
• Works to ensure compliance with Federal, State and Local government laws and regulations and company EHS requirements
• Carries out complex EHS assignments independently
• Occasionally participates in EHS incident investigations, EHS Reviews and training sessions
• Assist field personnel with ensuring contractor compliance with Devon EHS standards
• Assist in auditing contractor EHS performance, policies, and standards
• Oversee contractors conducting EHS field activities
• May be required on relatively short notice to travel to field locations to provide EHS support to Operations
• Consulting with peers and supervisor when they are in doubt as to how to safely approach any work-related job situation
• Conduct field safety evaluations and report findings and corrective actions to management
• Coach personnel in good safety habits
• Oil and gas industry experience preferred
• Practice safe work habits at all times
• Demonstrate commitment to Devon Attributes
• Microsoft Office Suite
• Live in or be willing to relocate to the local operating area as required by the Company                               
• Able to travel as required
