Information Technology – Systems Analyst Co-op Student
Calgary Office

This 8-month co-op student position will provide a well-rounded IT experience with opportunities to learn about multiple roles.  The position will commence on May 6, 2019 and is based in Calgary, Alberta.

Duties & Responsibilities

We are looking for students who are eager to apply their programming knowledge gained from school on real world oil and gas industry problems.  We are an innovative team looking for problem solvers who want to create and collaborate on IT solutions that change how our business works.

Web Application Developer

  • Participate in Agile SDLC practices and leverage cloud-based technologies to deliver full stack web solutions from DB to UI
  • Design, write, test and implement code, troubleshoot bugs while following development best practices and maintaining documentation

Integration and Data Services Developer

  • Design, develop, test and support integration jobs to move and migrate data between our critical systems
  • Create data services to expose data to other systems and empower end users to analyze their data

Analytics Developer

  • Create and support datasets, reports and dashboards to provide stakeholders with information and visualizations that are reliable and easy to consume
  • Explore leveraging big data technologies and apply them to Devon’s current data science and data modelling problems

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in the 2nd year or higher of a Bachelor’s degree program in Computer Science, Engineering or related technical field and returning to school in 2020
  • Experience with one or more general purpose programming language including but not limited to: Java, C, C++, C#, JavaScript or Python
  • Demonstrate strong analytical, time management and communication skills
  • Experience on development projects using Agile project management methodologies and cloud-based technologies (gathered from coursework, internships or side projects) are considered an asset
  • Knowledge and understanding of project management software like JIRA, Azure DevOps and version control systems, considered an asset
  • Experience writing web applications using ASP.NET and Angular frameworks, considered an asset
  • Experience building web services, ETL processes and using integration technologies like Informatica, considered an asset
  • Experience working with databases and writing queries in SQL,PL/SQL, using business intelligence/reporting tools like Power BI or Spotfire and big data technologies like Databricks, considered an asset
